Description: The ACT is a standardized test used for college admissions. It covers four academic skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science reasoning. It also offers an optional writing test. The ACT is accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. as well as more than 225 universities outside the U.S.

ADVANDED PLACEMENT (AP) EXAMS
Description: AP exams take place at the end of AP classes and are designed to measure how well a student has mastered the content and skills of a specific AP course. Most U.S. colleges grant credit, advanced placement, or both for qualifying AP scores. AP tests are scored between 1 and 5, with anything above 3 considered passing.
Registration: AP exam registration for May of 2026 is now open. Registration forms are available from students' AP teachers, in the Counseling Office or here.

ARMED SERVICES VACATIONAL APTITUDE TEST (ASVAB)
Description: The ASVAB, offered to juniors and seniors, measures a young adult's strengths and potential for success in military training.

PSAT/NMSQT (PRELIMINARY SAT/NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP QUALIFYING TEST)
Description: The PSAT is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the U.S. Students in 10th and 11th grade may take the test to measure readiness for college, access scholarships and practice for the SAT. If a student takes the PSAT as a junior, this might qualify them for academic recognition.

Fee: $20, with a late registration fee of $10. If a student is eligible for a fee waiver, they can take the PSAT for a reduced fee.

SAT
Description: The SAT is a standardized entrance exam widely used for college admissions in the U.S. Students are asked to apply their reading, writing, language, and math knowledge and skills as well as careful reasoning to answer questions and solve problems.
Registration: SAT administration has moved to school day test administration. The 2025-26 SAT registration form is available in the Counseling Office or Click Here. Students choosing to test on a Saturday will need to go to another school and register through College Board. Click Here
