Planning for a post-secondary education can be overwhelming. What steps should a student take to prepare for a career school or college? What does a student need to know in order to manage school expenses? Listed below are some useful resources.
SCHOOL RESOURCES:
Parents and students can learn about the types of financial aid available to help pay for college or career school, including grants, work-study, loans and scholarships by attending two sponsored programs:
FINANCIAL AID NIGHT – Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 7:00pm in the HS Library: Parents and students (grades 9-12). Information may change slightly each year.

- Federal Student Aid Estimator - This provides an estimate of how much federal student aid a student may be eligible to receive.
PHEAA/FAFSA PRESENTATION – Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at 7:00pm in the HS Library: Parents and students (grade 12). A Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) representative will walk families through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. These events occur every school year in October.

OTHER RESOURCES:
- 529 SAVINGS PROGRAM(PA Department of Treasury): Investment plan used to save and invest for K-12 tuition in addition to college costs.
- COLLEGE SCORECARD Online tool to compare the cost and value of U.S. higher education institutions.
- CSS PROFILE: Additional application for nonfederal financial aid administered by College Board. Unlike the FAFSA, there is a fee to apply. Be sure to check with colleges before using this application – not all post-secondary institutions require this form. Those that do typically have a fall due date for completion.
