Overview
Lower Dauphin High School was built in 1960 and was completely renovated in 1995. Construction work was completed in 2003 which added a two-story classroom wing and expanded the cafeteria and band room.
Foundations of our High School Program
Our students take classes for eight periods every day. Students must take three semesters of physical education during their four years of high school. In addition, ninth-grade students take Computer Applications and eleventh-grade students take both Career Explorations and Health, each for one semester.
Our academic day is 7:34 am to 2:26 pm. Office hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Half-day dismissal is at 10:52 am.
Grading Scales and Course Levels
Our High School English, math, science, and social studies curricula are offered at 'levels' to suit the abilities and academic needs of all of our students. We also offer an extensive Advanced Placement program available in all academic departments, as well as the art department.
Students earn a numerical value for grades:
A=90-100%
B=80-89%
C=70-79%
D=60-69%
F=0-59%
Report card grades reflect the actual numerical value earned. Report cards are printed and mailed at the end of the second and fourth marking periods.
