Dr. C
Elizabeth M. Colpo, DMA is the Immediate Past-President of the American Choral Directors Association’s Pennsylvania chapter.
Over 17 years at LDHS, Dr. Colpo has developed our choral program to include 3 curricular choirs designed to help students grow in their individual musicianship while building friendships and creating lifelong memories. Under Dr. Colpo’s direction, the LDHS Chamber Singers were a 2021 National Finalist for The American Prize in Choral Performance (HS Division) and have performed at PMEA State Conferences in 2022, 2014, and 2011. The LDHS Women's Select Choir had the honor of performing at the 2017 NAfME All-Eastern Conference. The common threads among all of these performances have been not just excellent music-making, but joyfulness and teamwork.
A National Board Certified teacher, Dr. Colpo earned a DMA in Choral Music Education at Boston University, an MM in Choral Conducting (Messiah University), K-12 Certification (Penn State University), a BA in Music & Accounting (Muhlenberg College-Magna cum Laude), and completed additional study at Westminster Choir College (studying wtih James Jordan, Joe Miller, and Dennis Shrock). Active as a musician herself, Dr. Colpo has performed as a vocal soloist with the York and Hanover Symphonies, the Susquehanna Chorale, the Unforgettable Big Band, and Theatre Harrisburg, and as a violinst with the Hershey Symphony.
