Strength and Fitness  

Objectives:

1.     To promote within the student/athlete, a desire for improving physical fitness and develop an understanding of how to achieve it.

2.     To provide the student/athlete with the opportunity to maintain and increase their level of physical fitness through exposure to a variety of activities.

3.     To increase the student/athletes’ knowledge of the components of fitness and the proper methods to improve them.

4.     To test and evaluate the student/athlete’s levels of fitness.

5.     To improve athletic performance by enhancing the specific components of fitness most important for each individual athlete.

6.     To develop goal setting strategies that will guide the student/athlete in making continuous progress throughout the school year.

 

Grading:

1.     Teacher observation of effort, cooperation, and leadership.

2.     Periodic fitness assessment and skill assessment

3.     Preparation for class; including proper change of clothing for physical activity (crewneck t-shirt, shorts or sweatpants, socks and sneakers) and safety.   All clothing must follow school dress code policy and the policies of the physical education department.

4.     Daily record keeping.

5.     Goal Setting and ongoing evaluation.

6.     Completion of a full period of activity and time management.
