ROBOTICS ENGINEERING

Students build robots using motors, sensors, and remote controls to control them. Students use TETRIX® building system and the LEGO® EV3 Intelligent Brick to learn the basics of building the robots. The robots will solve corn mazes,be a self-driving vehicle, crush Ping-Pong balls, and more. Basic principles of algebra and geometry will apply with many other educational areas.

***It is recommended (but not required) that students take Engineering Design before enrolling in this course.***

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Students will be able to:
  • Design, construct, and program mobile robots.
  • Apply measurement and geometry to calculate robot navigation.
  • Use both geometry and sensor feedback to plan robot paths.
  • Interpret sensor feedback, calculate threshold values, and understand conditional statements.
  • Understand, describe, and use the engineering design process.
  • Document and explain the results of their testing.
  • Strengthen their math and science skills.
