Mr. James's Bio

About me:

I have been teaching technology education at Lower Dauphin since the start of the 2003-2004 school year. I grew up in Mechanicsburg and graduated from Cumberland Valley High School. I got my Bachelor of Science in Education from California University of Pennsylvania. After a couple of years of teaching, I went on to receive my Masters of Education from Penn State. In 2011 I became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher.

I was the ski club advisor for 6 years and still chaperone. In the winters of 2007, 2009 and 2011 I helped chaperone ski and snowboard trips to Vermont. I’ve been the technical director for the high school auditorium since 2003. The technical director is in charge of the sound and lights for everything such as fall plays, spring musicals, and music concerts. 2007-2012, I was the mentor for ACE (Architecture, Construction management, and Engineering) mentoring program. I was the Outdoor Club advisor and have taken students on hikes, white water rafting and other adventures. In addition, I have kept time and score for the boys' soccer games, helped with track and field long jump, and have been an online school mentor.

I love to travel and try to do it as much as possible. I am a big movie buff and used to work at a video store in high school and college. I enjoy outdoor activities like tubing, hiking and biking. In the summer of 2009, I spent four days biking 243 miles across Pennsylvania from New York to Maryland. I used to play bass guitar and have been in a couple of local bands.
