Welcome to the candidates for the boys and girls high school teams for 2025/26 Both girls' and boys' teams should be developing a solid foundation in the off season. Players should be match ready by the start of their season. The team looks forward to our returning players and welcome new players to the program.
CONTACT INFORMATION The following information is needed for communication with players.
Player's and parents' cell phone #sand email addresses should be on file with Coach. New players
should fill out the google doc attached or email the information to coachstillwell717@gmail.com.
Communication will be through email during the summer months.
PHYSICALS -All athletes need to have a physical completed to participate. NO physical -No practice! The school will offer physicals again this year. The school is offering physicals on Thursday. May 29th from 3:00-5:00 pm in the high school cafeteria. They will also be offered on Thursday. July 31'' from 5:00-7:00 pm. You must sign up and there is a link on the school website now for the May date. All
completed forms must be turned in by Thursday. August 7th to start faff sports. Get yours now and be done with this step for participating in athletics for next school year. You may choose to complete
your physical with your family physici<\n or at Urgent Care or similar place but be sure to have the
packet from the school and all forms are completed. The physical/packet with all the necessary forms required can be picked up at the school office or found on the school website.
TEAM LINEUP -the tennis lineup is determined by a strength ladder. You beat the player ahead of
you and you move up. You are responsible for preparing yourself for match play. Let's" get numerous matches with your teammates over the summer.
EQUIPMENT -Tennis sho.es are a must to provide the proper stability for the movements of tennis.
Invest in a good pair now. If you are considering getting a new racquet, please get advice. first. There are many on the market and they are designed for different styles of play. Correct grip size is a must. rf you are not purchasing a new racquet, having it restrung and regripped might be a good idea. Get
advice on the services mentioned above.
SUMMER LESSONS -All players are encouraged to schedule lessons during the summer to h1=lp you
improve your strokes and match play; Good solid technique is the foundation of your tennis game.
There are numerous opportunities in the area. Hershey Racquet Club,(717-533-5995) offers day camps and area recreation programs may offer tennis clinics as well. The Hershey Country Club invites all interested LO players to participate in the programs at HCC /717-508-1770). Information will be sent in an email. There are instructional programs as well as match play clinics to gain more experience. ALL PLAYERS NEED TO BE MATCH READY FOR THE FIRST DAY OF PRACTICE.
FITNESS AND CONDITIONING - Physical conditioning is important to be a competitive athlete. Strokes are not enough. Endurance, agility, footwork, power, core strength and upp,er body strength are essential to be a successful tennis player. Girls especially don't avoid the heat,because you will play in the heat. You must acclimate to the hot, humid weather. Boys starting to train now and continuing in the months ahead will give you an advantage on the court. *The tennis season schedule is very demanding. BE PREPARED!!
SUMMER WORKOUTS -A schedule will be emailed to you with a summer practice schedule. Please
attend when you can to start the process of working with your teammates.
COMMUNICATION - emails will be sent regularly to remind players of opportunities such as team
workouts, clinics, tournaments, etc. You must check your email on a regular basis.
TOURNAMENTS, RANDOM & MATCH. PLAY-for every clinic or lesson that you take, you should be on court playing. 3-5 times/week. Plan this in your schedule. Call your team mates and play.
Challenges will begin the first day of practice. The more match play you have, the more prepared you will be. If you call a team mate and play, then that means two players are working out!! Be
committed to making yourself and your team better competitors.
START DATES-Fall sports preseasons start AUGUST 11th. The girls' team will start daily practices. Plan accordingly with your work schedules, appointments, vacations, etc. We will begin our match schedule before school starts. A complete schedule for August will be sent to the girls in the summer. Boys will start in March and info will be distributed in January 2026. Players are responsible for being
available throughout their entire competitive season. Schedule other obligations outside of the
season.
