Athletic Awards
Varsity sports: When a student qualifies for a letter in a sport he/she will be presented with a school letter "LD" (8-inch size) and a certificate. Only one letter will be presented to a student, with recognition for all sports participated in on the same letter. After a student has received his/her first letter he will receive certificates, pins and bars for each additional sport in which he or she qualifies.
Junior varsity sports: No letter awards will be presented. Certificates of participation will be presented.
The following rules govern the awarding of the athletic insignia.
- Each player must attend every practice and game session throughout the season. Plausible excuses will be recognized by the coach if he or she is notified in advance.
- Each player must adhere to all training regulations established by the coach.
- Each player must adhere to all training regulations established by the PIAA and the scholastic and eligibility standards set forth by the Lower Dauphin High School.
- Every player is expected to maintain an attitude of true sportsmanship throughout the season.
Participation regulations by specific sport
- Each player must play in one-half of the regularly scheduled varsity innings.
- Pitchers are required to play in one/fourth of the regularly scheduled innings.

A letter may be awarded to a player who has given conscientious service to the squad in his junior or senior years.
Basketball
- Each player must participate in 50% of the scheduled quarters.
- Players who are injured during the season may be recommended for a letter by the coach.

A letter may be awarded to a player who has given conscientious service to the squad for the two-year period of the junior and senior years.
Cheerleading
- Each player must be a member of the varsity squad in good standing.
- Each player must complete in 90 percent of the scheduled matches and compete until the end of the season.
- A letter may be awarded to a player who has given conscientious service to the squad for the two-year period of the junior and senior years.
Field Hockey
- Each player must play in 50 percent of the regularly scheduled quarters.
- Players who are injured during the season may be recommended for a letter.
- A letter may be awarded to a player who has given conscientious service to the squad for the two-year period of the junior and senior years.
Football
- Each player must participate in 50 percent of the scheduled quarters.
- Players who are injured during the season may be recommended for a letter by the coach.

Golf

Each player must participate in 50 percent of the scheduled matches.

Lacrosse

Each player must play in 50 percent of the regularly scheduled games.

Soccer

Each player must play in 50% of the regularly scheduled halves.

A letter may be awarded to a player who has given conscientious service to the squad for the two-year period of the junior and senior years.
Softball

Each player must play in one-half of the regularly scheduled varsity innings.

Swimming

Each player must average four (4) points per meet.

Players qualifying for the District III Championships.

Players must attend all practices, exhibit appropriate sportsmanship and adhere to established training rules.

Tennis

Each player must play in 35 percent of the regularly scheduled matches.

Track

Each player must average one point per meet OR must be a varsity starter in every meet in which his event is held.

Members scoring points in the District III Championship event will earn a double number of points for that event.

Wrestling

Each player must wrestle in 50 percent of the varsity meets and earn 12 varsity team points.

Volleyball

Each player must play in 50 percent of the regularly scheduled games.

Athletic awards are not automatic. The coach in addition to meeting the above requirements must recommend all athletes. Participation letters do not count as cumulative letters earned.
